An older pic of my 63 in glenwood green. Truck has only been sprayed twice in its life and still retains the same color for now.

Has anyone ever seen a Seamist Jade Green (in the chip above) truck? Don't think I ever have. Would love to see some photos if any exist.

Sodly I have found a few Seamist Jade trucks but didn't realize it was an uncommon color until later buying my own 1963 pickup and after studying that year closer realizing it then. I will look and see if I have a shot of one but don't think so. There is a Seamist Jade 1963 panel truck in Decatur AL w/ factory automatic, 283 and Uber-Rare Cool Pack Air Conditioning. It is low miles, 100% in its original Seamist Jade and untouched. But they won't sell it of course, or I'd have it already

Re: Factory color truck photos

Yellow was always a pretty unusual color for any 60-66 truck as mentioned way back in this thread. But the rarest color of all 60-66 trucks is when the dealership took a special order from a buyer who wanted a non-standard color. GM would then hand that buyer a fan deck showing all the fleet colors, and about a hundred choices not offered on the specific year or make they were buying and the buyer would choose from this wide array of color choices and the salesman would make it happen. My1966 BBW Custom Cab SWB truck was special ordered with this super rare "special paint" option. My truck is sprayed with "Butternut Yellow" which was a popular Chevelle / Nova color at the Janesville plant - here's a shot of the truck and of the special order form showing the "special pant" option.

Re: Factory color truck photos

I may be going to get one of only two factory "Silver" 1966 trucks I have personally ever seen in my 30 years of searching out odd rarities in my buying and building of old 55-66 GM trucks. My buddy Josh on this very board (JQ-72) bought the only Silver colored 1966 truck I have ever seen unless this one I am buying tomorrow proves to have this same highly unusual paint code too.

The one Josh found had factory 283 V8 w/ factory in-dash AC, PB and PS, BBW, long fleetside, Custom Cab and Comfort options, rare Tinted Soft-Ray glass all the way around, Deluxe guages, Deluxe Heat and two speed wipers w/ washers. Basically "everything" you could get.

What is odd is that this truck I just found is equipped almost identically to the one Josh found - factory V8 w/ factory in-dash A/C, factory automatic, BBW, factory power brakes, Deluxe guages & heat, Custom Cab and Comfort packages, long fleetside, and not real sure what else, but appears to have every option Josh's rare Silver find had minus factory power steering. Doesn't have that for whatever reason. How weird is it though to find only two in a lifetime of looking and seeing and then coincidentally both are two of the most highly optioned trucks in the country? very strange seems like. I can't wait to see this trucks' paint code tag and will report back if it is indeed the rare 1966 Silver

Re: Factory color truck photos

Keeping this thread about rare paint alive with a request: does anyone have a 66 C20 parts truck sitting around or know where one is in a junkyard that might have either a Dark Aqua & White, Black & White or Light Blue & White pait code tag inside on the kick panel? I want to change the color on my Custom Camper from solid White to one of these three combinations and certainly do not have to switch the tag to do so, but I would love to match the tag with my paint choice if it was do-able. I'd take a tag w/ solid Black or Solid Dark Aqua too.
So a "Custom Camper" was always exactly that - a Custom Cab. With that, the paint code tag will always say Z62 or something like that stamped in the "TRIM" code box, and like 537 for two tone light blue and white, or 500 for solid black etc. Seems like 511 is Dark Aqua but not sure what the two tone version is on that one. I need a C20 paint tag off a custom cab truck otherwise it wont have the Z62 trim code on it. Someone has an old C20 somewhere thats been sitting part-robbed but un-crushed for decades and that is where one of you will find a tag like I need....will pay good money well worth your time if you find a good one

Re: Factory color truck photos

I stumbled on this thread, as well as a few old zombie threads tonight while looking for other 60-66 Chevrolets the same color as mine. Needless to say, I've found very few. I've always guessed that my truck was special ordered by a very particular man. I believe this truck to be a bit of an oddball. It's a '64 short fleetside. It has a 292 inline 6, the SM420 4 speed, and a 3.73 geared posi rear, all of which are original to the truck. The color code is 529AA, which in '64 is the "gray green metallic", but, I believe the paint was probably left over 1963 "Sea Mist Jade", or it was specifically ordered that color. I've never seen another shortbox with the big 6, and the 4 speed. The oddball color is just icing on the cake.

Re: Factory color truck photos

Thanks for sharing Bodi, it's an uncommon find. Yes, IMO, your truck was ordered up by the customer, not already sitting on a dealership lot. Whenever I see a 292 in a shortbed with a 4 speed, somebody wanted a "heavy duty 1/2 ton". And yes, gray green metallic is a very rare standard color for '64. Most people don't know this standard color even existed unless they study paint chips closely. It was noted in another thread post #20. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=613738

Re: Factory color truck photos

Thanks for the reply, FactoryStock. I have some history on the truck going back to it's purchase, including the original California pink slip. It was purchased in early '64 by a Mr. Wade. This has been about 5 years ago, but, I drove to the address on the pink slip, and the farm it worked is still there. Mr. Wade is gone, but, his daughter still resided there. I found it pretty neat that the mailbox at the farm was painted in the same color that the truck is, probably done around the same time he bought the truck out of some spare paint.

I also believe the truck was ordered without a tailgate. There was a hitch in the bed when I got it, and the tailgate hinge mounting points had no evidence of a tailgate ever being installed. I believe the short box was ordered to work the orchards, and haul livestock, as evidence by the trailer still on the farm. Always cool when you can find some history on a truck.
