Re: 1954 3100 C4 Tube Chassis Build

Are you suggesting removing some of the the spring length or planing it down for thickness ?

Re: 1954 3100 C4 Tube Chassis Build

Get all the weight engine, front clip, cab doors and box on. measure the height, then remove approx. 1/8 from each side with a table saw, then see how much it lowers. When you get loose approx. 25-30% of the highest travel point start to test the shockwave with air pressure to see what happens. Due to the shockwave not being able full support the full weight of the truck, use the fiberglass leaf like a booster for the shock wave. By sneaking up on the narrowing of the leaf you find the optimum use with both. buy having 70% of the leaf in tack you could run if one of the bladders fails. This is my plan, it is only a theory, I'm still about 6-8 months before I can test this on my truck. Just and idea that I thought that I would share.

Since when can't a Shockwave hold up the vehicle?

I'm told by the manufacture that in a 57 GMC with a 454 that the weight would exceed the limits of the shockwave. So I'm investigating viable alternatives. Any suggestions?

ccreddell, I see what youre talking about, (when you first mentioned this I thought you were talking about a Watts link for some reason) It seems cool but a crazy amount of extra work when you can just run Shockwaves instead. Definitely adds to the WOW factor though. Ill be watching to see how your project progresses. Good luck and post lots of pics.

I need a little more movement than a Shockwave would give me, and Ive never been comfortable using shock mounts to hold a car up (or a truck), plus it will ride better.

Going to be parting this out soon if it doesn't sell whole. Everything available for sale.

Pretty girl you have. I like the stance too, I wanted my front wheels tucked more away from the fenders gives it a very aggressive look imo. You chose to have yours closer to the fenders, looks exceptional with wheel/tire combo. I'll stalk this thread.
