vacuum wiper problem

I have just joined and i think i posted this thread on the wrong forum initially so hopefully this time i have got it right,
I have recently purchased a 59 gmc pickup which is in need of care and rebuilding,I have imported her from California to the UK and I am in need of some assistance and hope that someone is able to help.I do not yet have an owners manual and the previous owner has done part of many jobs but not completed many.
One of such is that it has vacuum wipers but with no pipes attached, having a changed engine with electic fuel pump put in at some point. The vacuum motor has two inlet/outlets ,one of which did have attached a small manifold for fitting other pipes. My only experience of vacuum systems comes from a 55 buick which i am sure only had one pipe feeding it from the engine. If any one could supply a diagram of the vacumm pump and where the pipes feed from and too I would be very much obliged.

Re: vacuum wiper problem

If you go to the sticky threads at the begining of this section there is a guy with the screen name DennyB that has a bunch of manuals online. You might be able to find the information there. They are the original manuals that he has scanned and I have found lots of information there. Hopefully someone on here will have a answer for you also. Good luck with your truck and welcome to this site.

Re: vacuum wiper problem

I'm not sure if your trying to stay stock, but I replaced my vacuum system with and electric one. The company is called Newport Engineering. Here's a link to RB's who sell's the:

Many thanks.
I have looked up my truck and it would seem that it should be fitted with electric wipers so i am more confused now then ever.To convert to electric seems a good idea but living where i do i have to pay import duty and tax on whatever i import if i have it delivered which adds another 30% on the price.
I shall have to find a friend whos coming over .Thanks again

Re: vacuum wiper problem

That stinks, I guess I didn't know where Lincolnshire was. Good luck with your build. It may end up more expensive than mine, lol. Keep us posted. Daniel U
