Update on Dash Fix
Hey Guys- You have all been so helpful with my many questions, thought I'd update you on the dash replacement panel question I asked about a week ago. It's getting there.....will apply some light body filler, sand and paint.
Again, thanks for all your help!!! This is the first time I've done a panel replacement like this, but it has been a blast meeting the challenge!! Tod |

Yup, looks excellent. Congrats!
On my '55 I'm currently debating whether to leave the dash totally stock or eliminate those upper three holes - don't need the manual choke, the manual throttle control nor the cigarette lighter. I've also considered whether to smooth the ashtray and HVAC control panels. Still can't decide.

I'd leave the lighter as someone including you is always needing an auxiliary power plug in.
The choke cable handle could work an ignition or starter kill switch. Lots of ways to do it if you don't want to spend the time blanking it off.

Nice work! I have the same project in my future. The PO of my truck took a grinder to the embossed rings for the control handles above the radio and tried to grind them flush. This resulted in random holes burned through and the remainder of the rings left behind after they figured out the rings could not be ground flush. Kind of sad really, because the mess they made for the radio opening could have been cleaned up by installing a double DIN head unit.

I've seen a couple of those deals over years where some doofus apparently thought those embossed rings were solid and could be ground off. oopsie.
