Question Braking Issue

My 1995 c1500 Silverado has a braking problem.

I changed out the front rotors, calipers and pads but still having issues. What's happening is it pulls to the left if you hit the brakes hard.

After doing the brake job it's even more noticable. Come to find out under the hood someone has plugged one of the ports on the ABS controller on the driver's side inner fender well with a hood pin.

Almost didn't see it as it blends in so well, and one of the brake lines is not attached since it's being plugged.

Could this be the reason why the brakes would make the truck pull to one side?

Re: Braking Issue

Looks like a PO was chasing a braking problem. Could be the line was ruptured and he plugged it like that. So you have no working brakes on that side hence the pulling to one side. If you trace that line it probably goes to the right front wheel. That line may have rusted into somewhere along the crossmember.

Awwww sooooo.

good catch Boog!

Will jack it up and take a gander at that.

But I will add this info to this, I replaced:

1. Front Calipers
2. Front Rotors
3. And brake pads.

Then we bled the brakes. So tell me how we can do that if we saw brake fluid and air coming out once we purged the system after doing the front brakes?

Re: Braking Issue

The symptoms match up with a restricted brake hose to a front caliper. It is fairly common on these trucks. If it pulls to the left, replace the right front brake hose.

Where the hose bracket is on the brake hose the hose collapses with time.

Re: Braking Issue

ChevyTech I am more app to think it COULD be that but just curious why someone would block off a port on the ABS computer as shown in post #3?

Re: Braking Issue

All my brake lines are Stainless Steel braided lines. Front & rear (including the 'T' above the rear end housing). You can find pre-made kits, and not expensive. I got Russell brake lines.

In the photo it looks to me like they disconnected the line to the Right Front brake. I agree with Boog!

Why haven't you just followed the line that is disconnected and see where it goes?

There most likely was a problem with the RF brake so instead of fixing it, someone disconnected it, like Boog said.

This should be repaired for safety.
