Distractions....distractions 30 Model A dad Bought in 1958

I know this may not be the best spot for this thread but thought I would share something that has come up while trying to finish my truck.

My father is losing sight in one eye and memory is going.

In tribute to my dad I hauled his 1930 Model A roadster he bought in 1958 for the sun total of $60 to a buddy's shop here on waco.

Plan is to redo it all original for dad to get to drive it at least once? Very nice of you. Your trucks not going anywhere so time to concentrate on the Model A

Taking a few shortcuts like 1/4 20 button head bolts with distorted thread nuts instead of bucking 50 rivets for the sheet metal floor. Aside from that pretty solid car, had the rumble seat lid skinned. Doors should be mocked up this week, they are primed with the newer primer. The red oxide will be sanded off prior to paint.

It will look pretty factory, he dated my mother in this car.

Plan is to get him behind the wheel one time at least hopefully.

I'll post many more pictures.

Re: Distractions....distractions 30 Model A dad Bought in 1958

Finished mocking in most of the floor pans today, lots of holes to mark and drill Still have one panel to fit in the back of the frame. Have to tweak one of the middle panels but good progress anyway.

I am so glad my dad had the foresight and kept the original rusted out panels they served as a good reference even though they were pretty rusted in parts.

Next is wheel well work, but had to have floor pans in to strengthen subframe.

Good story, Thanks for posting it here. That looks like a pretty solid body, I hope you can get it driving in time for your Dad to take one more spin in it.

This is the floor bottom painted Cardinal Red, this color should look killer with the gloss black fenders and running boards. Next to mock up the doors and fix the inner wheel house and some small rust spots.

This will be painted inside the car and outside including good and gas tank.

Awesome project and what an even better reason to build it. It's awesome that he was able to keep the car all these years too. I'm pulling for you to get it done for him to enjoy it before his health slips away any farther.

Painted subrails and interior firewall.

Turned out nice I think.

View from front seat.
