nv4500-Whats it worth

Stumbled upon a early 90's 2500 Chevy 4x4 at a mom-pop type of junkyard today. It was written off because of a cracked frame and had the engine removed. After seeing that the original nv4500 was still intact, I asked how much they wanted for it. They told me the owner would be back tomorrow and he would make me a deal just to haul it off.

Odo says 190K. What would you pay for the trans and all associated hardware (pedals, hydraulic clutch, bellhousing)? I'm thinking $500 for the whole truck. Save the trans, sell the 14FF & IRS frontend and scrap the rest.

I was surprised that it had FF axles. I thought those were exclusive to 1-ton versions?

Manual transmission and big block 2500s get the ff. 500 is a good deal for you.

The trans alone will go for 500-1200 on craigslist.

You're miles ahead if you get the hydraulics and the shifter.

Transfer case should be a NP241 drivers drop.

Re: nv4500-Whats it worth

Made a deal with the owner today. $550 for the whole truck minus motor. It was that or $500 for the trans. No brainer-the recycling yard is only two miles away. Plan on pulling the trans/t-case, x-member, bellhousing, driveshaft, pedal assembly and rearend (14FF)-recycle the rest.

I'll throw some pics up and see if anyone wants anything from it. It's IRS-I'm not sure what has any value for parting out?

The title says its a 94. Great, now I have a matching set of early (low-gear) nv4500's

Re: nv4500-Whats it worth

As promised; however, I misspoke about it having a 14FF rearend, it's a semi-float. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy about the nv4500.

Looks like the bed and tailgate are straight. There's some money for your project.
