96 Z71 remote door lock question.

When I bought my truck a while back the po said it originally came with remotes but he didn't have them. It does have power locks that work from the buttons. I got a remote but when I try to program it like the video on YouTube, when I connect pin 4 to pin 8 nothing happens. I'm thinking it never came with remotes and doesn't have the receiver. Anyone know how to tell if it does or doesn't have the remote capability. I'd like to get them working if possible. I've got a service manual ordered but it will be over a week before it comes.

Youll have to look up the code, but there is an RPO code for remote locks. AU0 or something.....

Thank you, you are correct. When I bought my truck I was told it had remote entry but it doesn't. I stopped by my local Chevy dealer today and they ran my vin and it shows that I don't have the remote feature although I do have power locks. RPO AU3 is power locks and AU0 is remote entry. I'd like to have the remote entry so I'll look a little farther when my service manuals get here. If it's not too much trouble or expense to add it I'll do it.

My 98 Tahoe has the AU0 but fob is gone. People scarf these in junkyards, so gonna be tough to get one...refuse to buy one off evilbay. Wouldn't think it be hard to put it in ur truck tho...
