Re: 1985 GMC 4x4 LS Motor Swap, tons of pics!

Thanks guys.

I figured out how to block off my EGR hole in the intake without spending $30 at the dealer for a block off plate (GM Part #12558346)..

I just slapped a freeze plug in there. Cost me 99cents haha. (Dorman part #555-093.1)..

I also got a BUNCH of goodies in the mail. Stay tuned and I'll get pictures.

I got a bunch of crap in the mail. Fuel stuff and fuse block stuff. The only thing stopping me is the -14 degree C weather.

The headers are just an eBay brand. I picked them up for $250 (on sale). For a 5th gen Camaro 6.2 liter.

I haven't gotten around to touching the truck because it's been so cold. It hasn't been this cold here for a few years I'm not used to it!

Thanks I appreciate the comment. I like to keep a positive outlook on it. Right now, it's a giant paper-weight and I'm HOPING I can get it running

Thanks. The color is really subtle and at the same time stands out.

I was getting around 10 mpg average with the TBI setup. I'm sure it could've been better

Re: 1985 GMC 4x4 LS Motor Swap, tons of pics!

Here are a few pictures I snapped yesterday. This is how the truck sits now but I took the bed off and it's in the backyard now. I plan on getting an 87-91 suburban tank and ditching the saddle tanks.

And here are a few pics of the motor. It's all put together, all I have to do is the WIRING. I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what I'm doing I will have questions about the wiring and how to get this going. I did do a fuse block according to what lt1swap.com shows. I just have to plug in the ignition now i suppose.. I'm going to mount the computer in the cab behind the glove box and run it under the intake manifold for a cleaner setup. I installed the lokar throttle cable and it works great.

Re: 1985 GMC 4x4 LS Motor Swap, tons of pics!

Well I am very happy to announce that my 5.3 swap is a success!! Why was I so worried about the wiring? it started right up today and sounds very healthy! It has a gas leak where the fuel rail meets the AN fitting though... I'll be fixing that tomorrow. I'll post a vid soon.

Re: 1985 GMC 4x4 LS Motor Swap, tons of pics!

I tried getting a video of the truck running but it's leaking antifreeze out of the water pump. I think the water pump might be bad, because the gaskets are brand new. Just one more thing! Now i have to drain the cooling system and buy a new one. darn..

Here is a video of a startup. I just replaced the water pump last night. Took the video this morning.
