Old Air Cooling Fans on a big block?

Is anyone running the Old Air Products dual electric fans on an big block? Curious to see if they will fit with out clearance issues. I am running short water pump and on 72 big block mounts in stock location.

I considered it with my BBC, long pump, 4 core setup but just couldn't get past the price. My measurements showed it would fit without issue as the center is pretty thin compared to the center of each fan. The thing is pretty thick though. Also, just about all the reviews I read mentioned the noise it puts out so I went another route.

Yeah, I have read about the noise they make, but I’m ok as long as it cools well. I wasn’t sure how much clearance is needed.

I like to get new cooling fans . Not sure what I should go w .

Member wshattuck used the Old Air dual fan set up on his ZZ502 build, I remember asking for the details because the fans looked really clean.

Basic info. This off the flex lite site.

To choose your electric fan, we recommend that you determine the minimum airflow you'll need, because you'll want to rule out fans that won't cool your vehicle. Consider the following minimum cubic feet per minute (CFM) ratings for basic engines:
1,250 CFM for a 4-cylinder
2,000 CFM for a 6-cylinder
2,500 CFM for a 8-cylinder

A further note is that engines that are 5.0-liter (302 cubic inches) or larger should use an electric fan with 2,800 or more CFM. Obviously, an 800-horsepower engine will need more cooling than a 400-horsepower version regardless of the cylinder-count, but this basic guidance will get you started.

Went with the Champion 3-row w/ dual 14-inch fans and purchased a harness from local board member.

- very nice weq. Are u happy w your set up ? I have same radiator just haven't installed it yet . I'm willing to spend a lot on some good fans . Maybe I dont have to , but this cooling issue is killing me . I'm gonna also address the timing as well . Just gotta buckle down and do some research . Thank you .

I used them for a few years,worked very well with my stock 402.No clearance problems,and yes they are a little noisy. The temperature gauge never got past 180 even on the hottest summer days.

Look into the Trarus 2fspeed an and Mark3 fans. They are some of the powerfulest fans out there.
I have the Tarus fan in my 64 SS Impala 350 and it never gets over 190* with the low speed. I have the high speed set on the AC.
The fan on high speed is like 3200CFM!

If you're doing dual fans, consider a triple-relay setup. If you can control the fan in two stages, it allows you to run:

- One fan on LO
- One fan on HI
- Two fans on LO
- Two fans on HI

It is the "Two fans on LO" where the fans get run in parallel at lower speed that is the key. It's much, much quieter that way.

This only works if you have two set points though.

That's right, and I believe the harness you get with the Old Air fan set isn't this type of setup.
