Unfused HEI wire?

I noticed that my HEI wire is plugged into the unfused terminal on the fuse block.
Should I install an inline fuse, if so what size.
Thanks K.E.N.

Re: Unfused HEI wire?

That's what I did with mine. It didn't feel right going without a fuse.
Here's the one I used, but I see it's not available now: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The might be good, too:

As long as that wire going to the HEI,
Does not have voltage with the key off .

Not all terminals on the fuse block lose power when the key is off. The one you want is marked "ignition unfused".

Re: Unfused HEI wire?

On my '70 there were two of those extra unused unfused terminals. I used one for the HEI and one for the electric choke on my Holley.

Re: Unfused HEI wire?

I put an inline fuse in mine. I remember going bigger than necessary, maybe 10A, so it will never blow under normal use unless it shorts.
