P0101 and P0171 trouble codes.

My 02 chevy truck popped these codes up today.I did some research on here and the p0101 is maf and the p0171 is running to lean.Can worn plugs cause any of these codes?The engine is a bone stock 4.8

Check maintenance stuff first... Plugs/wires/fuel filter. Then clean the MAF, if that doesn't do it you may have a vacuum leak somewhere, I've seen a few between the intake and heads. Troubleshoot those then check the MAF itself.

The regular copper plugs will work but I would get the platinums that it calls for.

The factory calls for a plug gap.060 but researching on the net said gm changed the gap for some reason.Does any one know the correct gap?

It changed to .040 as the plug type changed.

I believe they were originally iridium and changed to a platinum thus the gap changed.

Late model GM's can be sensitive to off brand plugs-Id suggest keeping with OEM AC Delco iridium tipped plugs. And, they are boxed pre-gapped so don't change the gap. Unless the internet crowd can offer up a service bulletin notice regarding a change in the gap I wouldn't worry about changes.

I'd be checking intake gaskets for a vacuum leak after looking at fuel trims

Spray some carb cleaner along the base of the manifold. you may find a leak Those two codes normally happen with a dirty MAF or manifold vacuum leak at the manifold base.
