NAPA Ignition Switch Fail !

I bought a replacement ignition switch assembly from NAPA for my 71 GMC. First one would not slide into the spacer used to secure it into the dash, Basel also would not screw onto the threaded end of the housing. Returned it and tried another one only to have same issue. Box stated made in Tiawan...just a heads up !

Re: NAPA Ignition Switch Fail !

I swapped out my OEM ignition switch years ago with a repop unit. The repop sucked and ended up having issues. I ended up finding a used OEM unit to stick back in there. Its been working great for over a decade now. Something to be said for the OEM stuff, even if it is used. This goes for the reverse switch on the steering column too.

Re: NAPA Ignition Switch Fail !

I had a similar experience just last month. Bought a new ignition switch from Rock Auto. ACDelco brand. I had to file a bit from the switch body to get it to fit into the spacer. Seemed like the 3 tangs were off just a little. The bezel did screw on however. I am beginning to lose confidence in ACDelco quality.

Re: NAPA Ignition Switch Fail !

I recently bought a window switch from rock auto for a cadillac. It said AC Delco but it also said made in Taiwan. It didn't fit....
That is the 2nd AC Delco switch I've had a problem with in the last couple of years.

Re: NAPA Ignition Switch Fail !

Most ac Delco branded stuff any more is just re packaged aftermarket junk. There’s plenty of reading here and on other sites about this very topic. It’s Pretty disappointing.
