Little motor rebuild question 350 or 383
Well I am buying a 90-98 k1500 4x4. And want to run 33 or 35. I will rebuild the motor and have been looking at options for the intake and top end .. what is a good way to go...carb or Holley or something ..it is a daily driver that is going to go about 15 ,isles round trip to work. More of a toy.. plan on the bottom end to be 9.5 to 10 ...and either vortex heads or the torquer 2s. Nothing crazy on cam .... i am simply researching and wanting to keep it cheap and simple ...main focus is it to start every time and not have to pump the carb to start

A 4x with 35s I'd look at a 383 engine. Why not keep the Fuel Injection?

Yeah 383 is nice. Fuel injection is awesome just think it would be limited on supply with the extra fuel needed. I keep reading its a pig TBI ..tire size doesn't scare me I can get the years changed and go lower to help on that side. Just want some good reliable torque to be strong in the low end

Re: Little motor rebuild question 350 or 383
If you buy a '96-'99 truck, you will have a Vortec 350 to start with. While the Vortec injection is not the best it is a good bit better than TBI. If you're wanting an engine that starts every time without having to pump the gas, you should consider staying with the EFI. While building a 383 would be the smart thing with 33-35" tires, a 350 can be built to perform decently. This also depends on your budget. A budget upgrade to a Vortec 350 would be the Ram Jet 350/HT383 cam (14097395) and a set of 1.6 roller rockers
