Opinions wanted on this truck...

My man needs a bigger truck for work and we found this one on autotrader:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=en&cardist=33

I thought it seemed cheap and it is below book... what do you guys think of it? Maybe it has bad piston slap or something?

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck...

If that's an HD (which it looks like it is) it might have the 6.0L engine which is a real gas hog. If it has the 5.3 it will be a good bit better on fuel. I have a 2K Z71 with 87K and I checked the blue book on it... it's only worth about 11K and it's an extended cab 4x4, so the price seems reasonable. Fuel prices has caused truck values to drop. Best thing to do is check it out on person.

if its the 6.0 or the 5.3 then that seems like a pretty nice price... if its the 4.8 then its about normal

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck...

Add description says alloy wheels but their not.

I bought an HD 4x4 new in 01 with the 6.0L, loved the truck and the power but not so much the mileage, a 2wd should be better I'd guess.

Just picked up another 01 but this time went Duramax.

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck...

Well we got it... First time I've ever had the experience that they wanted us to buy it more than we really needed too. Got way over book for our trade-in(04 Colorado with bald tires!!). So now even though it will get poorer fuel mileage, we have cheaper payments and insurance then the Colorado. We had looked around at a bunch of other trucks (1/2 tons mostly), but they were asking a lot more or they had been sold already. We figured that the this truck didn't and wasn't selling because I can't imagine there is much of a market in that area for work trucks with manual trannys and probably because of gas prices too.
