What type of engine do I have?
Bought a 71 c10 that came with a 350. Was told by the owner that it’s not the original engine but does not know where the engine came from. It seems to be leaking oil now and need a few gaskets replaced. Unfortunately, I’m having a hard time getting them as I don’t know what type or year of 350 I have?
Anyone have an idea on how to find this info out? |

Behind the left head and just above the bell housing is the block casting number. Use a small wire brush and a flashlight and you can usually clean it up to read it. The engine code stamping is located directly in front of the right head on the block deck surface. That stamp sometimes will be gone in the case the block deck has machined in the past.
