Question...K Trucks Body Height

I'm curious if 3/4ton K trucks sat up higher than the 1/2ton K trucks. During my build(K1500), I replaced my leaf springs with a Tuff Country 2" spring lift. When I bought my truck it had what I thought was a 4 -6" lift on it, which sat up higher than I wanted it to. Now that the build is basically finished, the 2" lift looks more like 4". I think the truck looks great, but still would like it lower, but not to stock height. When I sold the leaf springs that were on the truck when I bought it, I took the buyers original 3/4 ton springs from him in a money/swap deal. I'm wondering what options I have if I use the 3/4ton springs? Pictures are how it sits now with 32x11.50 tires( I think they actually measure out around 31" tall)......Any thoughts?

Re: Question...K Trucks Body Height

My 72 K20 is stock height, has 33" tires, and is close to 74" at the roof of the cab.

Pete- What size wheels are you running with your 33’s? Wondering if my 16x7 accuride wheels will hold a 33x12.5 tire. Glad to hear they clear a stock height K20

Scott the wheels are OEM 16.5 x 8.25 and have 33 x 12.5" BFG AT KOs. Sadly, BFG no longer offers a 16.5" tire but these clear with no sweat. In fact, all my K trucks have 33" and have no problem with rub. Coker tire offers some vintage Super Traxion tires that are very cool and there is a 16.5" option. My blue blazer just got fresh 33" BFG KO2s last week. It's got new springs supposed to be 0" lift but looks a tad lifted to me FWIW

DeadheadNM, if you don't mind and get a chance to measure, would you measure from the floor to the highest part of the arch of both front and rear wheel openings of the fenders. Thanks for the other info.

38" up front 40" out back. I plan to swap in new springs next year.

Re: Question...K Trucks Body Height

For what it's worth, I have owned all variations of K-models in this body over many years and your truck sure looks right for 2" over stock. The K/10 SWBs I have had were, except the one I never got into, which I'll show first

I don't want to be a nuisance, but would you mind measuring your 33" tires. My cooper 32"x11.50" tires only measure out at 30.25" with weight of truck on them. I'm just trying to figure out what the result will be if I swap in the 3/4 ton leaf springs. Thanks, Tim

Re: Question...K Trucks Body Height

No sweat and thanks for the good words. I measure ~32" - I guess I need to air those tires up

Re: Question...K Trucks Body Height

The best way to measure ride height is to measure your shock mount bolts center to center, this eliminates tire height, sagging cab mount etc. My 69 K20 front shock mounts are 16 3/4 inches apart center to center. This is after installing 3 leaf front springs which raised the truck one inch. The stock 2 leaf springs were 15 3/4 inches apart center to center.
So Tim, measure your front shock mounts center to center, they should be roughly 18 inches apart for the 2 inch lift. Your spring may settle just a tad after driving them a couple thousand miles too.
A buddy of mine just put 2 inch lift springs on his K20 and he was sitting just a tad over an inch higher then me.
