Re: 72 chevy modern swap

I ordered the advance adapter kit a day before christmas eve and yet the company hasn't opened back up. They sent a messaged that they would be open on the 5th so haven't did a whole lot on the pickup. Going to order the a ram 1550 flywheel, wilwood master cylinder, and a set of 309-C Doug Thorley Headers once the kit gets here.

Have to thank cmabolt for finding out what set of headers work best on his reno project.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Haven't been doing much on the truck other than wiring up the fuel tank and running fuel lines. I need some help, want to use russell connectors from my fuel line to tank and fuel rails. Anyone have some number for me? Lines are 5/16 and 3/8.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

So I have been pretty disappointed in advance adapters. Ordered it on the 24th of December and they still haven't shipped it out. I made a purchase on summit last night and it will be here monday. Kinda mad but picked up some other things for the truck.

Was it a universal one? I don't see how it attaches without other bracketry, which seems unnessary if designed for our trucks. I noticed you had to modify it some....

Do you still have the Eaton? I may be interested in the third member or maybe whole thing depending on price and if we could meet up somewhere sometime. It would be a spare for me, so not a rush thing by any means.

Keep up the good work!

Its made for 67-72 trucks by pacific fabrication. Yes it has brackets that bolt in the frame rails, but not going to bolt it in till the transmission is hooked up to it so i get it where i want it. And yes you have to run a brake line threw that side most people just drill a hole when i want to make it look like the other side.

Yes i do! Im sure we could work something out on the eaton.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Lance, here are the pics your requested. There are 4 shots that show the frame clearancing and proximity of header outlet to hydraulic clutch slave.

Let me know if you need anything else. This first pic is header outlet to slave distance from looking to from of truck view.

This pic is above frame looking forward. This shows frame clearancing. There is a lot of frame removed here. I am probably going to modify the collector angle to remedy this.

This shot is rear facing showing the slave proximity to header outlet. It looks a little closer than it is in this pic. The slave is directly in the middle.

Hope this helps

If you have looked at Chris' reno project he had trouble with his motor mount not lining up i had the same problem ill do a write up later. Id go with dirty dingo or build your own. I would've built my own pretty simple.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

If you don't mind me asking why did you go with the pac fab crossmember over DD?
I have a thread going regarding which crossmember to use.

Chris thank so much for the pictures! I would jump right on the big block hugger but im curious if the factory flange bolted to them as well?? I'm just trying to get away from cutting the frame and spending another 70.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Well boys im back with a lot to say. I have never been so fed up with a company in my life. Advanced got my adapter to me about a month ago and i was every impressed when i seen everything. It wasn't till my transmission got back from being rebuilt that the guy told me my bellhousing was wrong... And of course it was. The bellhousing they sent me was for a 96-03 nv4500, and i thought mine was. Little did i know that the top housing of my transmission had been switched. When it was being rebuild i had the rebuilder write down any numbers. Turns out i have a 94 nv4500. So i waited a week for advanced adapters to get back to me. I sent the bellhousing there, they sent one back no problem.... I left the clutch fork attached to it figuring they would send one with the different housing well of course not. So i waited for the fork, and it finally came. without the spring in the back of it but i start to assemble everything anyways. It was all quite simple with the assembly other then i had to oval out a hole in the rear housing and modify the dust cover because it was quite modified for this project. Oh well check out the progress though.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Here the advance adapters kit. The coupler is really impressive, and i had people tell me dont go with a 10 spline tcase. Well i have four of them and that coupler was quite tight on all of them.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

With our tcase you have to take out the old bearing and replace it with the that is installed in the first picture, just keeps the oil from escaping. Got the transmission back and it looked pretty fricken sweet if i do say so.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

I decided to go a different route with the fuel tank. And no not boyd, I dont hate on boyd but it was 840 for a 19 gallon tank with a pump that only support up to 400hp and my engine comes out this summer to get bored out and possibly a turbo not for sure on anything but i needed something better and cheaper. I also wanted it to be an intank fuel pump. More to come....

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Threw the tcase up to the trans just to see how it looked and it looks pretty cool. Shifter arm needs to be shaved down a bit but other then that it looked good.

Well you guys get commenting and asking question. ill post more tomorrow.
