Arrow Dash Lights don't work

My headlight switch was broken, the rod that the knob to turn the lights on and off was stuck in the switch. Even with the release button ontop of the switch depressed, it wouldn't come off. So, a quick lop with some bolt cutters got the switch rod out . Anyway, i bought a used switch at a junkyard for $5. I put it in, and it contorlls the dome light, headlights, and parking lights just fine, but my dash lights don't come on. The plug is installed in the back of the dash, b/c the turn singal indicator arrors blink when i turn on the turn signal. So, should i but a new switch, or is there anything else i should look for before i spend another $10 on a new switch?

If you look at the switch with it out, there should be a rheostat, which is wire-wound. There is also a wiper on it. Check to see that the wire isn't burned in two. Also check the wiper contact to make sure it isn't burned. Then check your connector to see if any of the inserts are burned or unseated.
Did your dash lights work before? Check your fuse - maybe it's toast.
Also, your dash lights use the same fuse as the tail lamps, that may help. If your tail lamps work, it probably isn't the fuse.
Hope this helps...
