1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

Having fun trying to find the correct front brake hoses for my truck. I have purchased three different sets w/out success. The most current set purchased are long enough, secure to the caliper w/out issue, but will not secure to the frame properly.

I can push the line through the frame bracket, tighten the metal line to the hose ok, but the little push clips will not attach because the hose it not able to go through the frame braket far enough to get the clips back on.

My original hoses were trashed, I never thought I would have a hard time finding correct hoses for a Chevy truck.

If anyone has some originals they might want to sell, I would consider buying them and having them redone or if any one has run across this, I would like to hear their solution.

Thanks in advance.

Where did you get the hoses? I wouldn't expect it to be hard to find either.

Several different vendors on the board, some were too short, others the ends were wrong. The best fitting thus far are from Brothers Truck Parts, but they still are not an exact fit.

Went through the same problem, no one has them. Brothers sent a pair. One was for discs, the other was for drums! Ended up making a pair out of braided stainless.

Re: 1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

well, my last suggestion would be just make a frame bracket of your own, a small piece of steel, self tapping screws, and a drill bit, should be easy as anything else.

Something could be made I am sure, but wanting to keep the truck original as possible. As many of these trucks are around I am sure someone has found the correct hoses or has made some from originals. I wish I had not thrown my originals in the trash.

Re: 1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

I got hoses for my K20 with PB from rockauto.com, I got some NOS Wagner hoses and they fit perfect. Maybe I got the last two? I'd keep checking with them and even give them a call, it seems like their inventory is pretty fluid and might change week to week.

Re: 1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

I just checked my receipt from when I replaced the front brake hoses on my '72 K20. The NAPA number is 36761. It was a direct replacement and is still listed with them. Hope this helps.

Their catalog has the same part number for 1/2 and 3/4 ton. They will probably be wrong also.

I appreciate the info, but would the K20 be different from a C20 since the K's are four wheel drive?

I put a 72 disc brake front end on a 68 a few years back and got the hoses from my local CarQuest parts store.

Was the truck a 1/2 or 3/4 ton?

I don't know if the hoses are different or not between C20 & K20. Those worked on mine, so you can compare those to your originals.

It was a 1/2 ton.

Just realized your looking for 3/4 ton info.

Re: 1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

this not much help but i posted it anyway
this is a x interchange for 1/2 tons. We use the nexpart system. it seems like no one makes the 3/4 ton hoses. you may want to to a brakequip dealer. they can make anything. My son is a factory rep for NAPA on the east coast i will ask him
.

these are all they list
ACDELCO 18J1836
AIMCO B916885
CARQUEST SP4948
CARQUEST/RAYBESTOS SP4948
CENTRIC PARTS 15066088
DORMAN H380712
NAPA 380712
RAYBESTOS BH380712

ac delco does not list a 3/4 ton at all which is odd. i learned something today

Re: 1972 C20 Disc brake front hoses

Manes truck parts lists a 3/4 ton hose. they cost more than the 1/2 tons. You may want to call them and ask. I have used them and they are a great company to deal with

If you have the stock front end the 69 has drum brakes. The 71/72 is disk. WES
