Gates radiator hoses and belts, Wix air cleaner, Firestone tires, Timken wheel bearings, Monroe shocks. Can't think of anything else, but I haven't bought much for it yet.

Re: name your American made parts

This thread was a great idea. I venture to say that most all of us would choose American made parts, if given the option. It would be nice to compile a list of all our vendors American made parts to make it more obvious what is available here. I am all for promoting the vendors choosing to carry these parts.

Re: name your American made parts

I never thought there would be a day when I asked if a part was made with Japanese steel.

Because I now want Japanese steel over Chinese.

I've completly given up on trying to get Made in USA.

Try to Boycott China, your kids won't have a Christmas.

It's a damn shame!

At least they'll have a country when they're grown. Just sayin'.

X3 on a list of the parts made in the USA! Alphabetically organized would be even more awesome.

No seriously. I tried to boycott China in 2001 when they would not return our spy plane that they brougt down.

Here's how the boycott went.

Week 1: Boycott went OK until I went to Laughlin Nevada with my family to visit my Grand Parents. We stayed at the Ramada. Told my son he could by a toy from the gift shop if not made in China. I sh#t you not, there was not one thing in that store not made in China, clothing included. The only thing (I think was non chinese) was candy bars and potato chips. I had to cave and let him buy a Chinese toy.

Week 2: Ahhh ya... Boycott ended... I was only punishing myself and my family.

Oh but here's is what I do now.

I fill my water glass half full, that way if I'm not am not as thirsty as I thought I would not have wasted the other half.

See, that's the country already.

BTW The half glass is recommended by an obesse global warming expert that has three large swimming pools and flys around the world in a private jet on his do as I say not as I do tours.

Have a country! No, had one. We already lost if for our children. Hope they can get it back.

Re: name your American made parts

This has been a really interesting thread. Never imagined a "parts" thread would get such passionate responses. A salute to the venders selling the stuff made in the states. There's been several new parts that I've bought in the last couple years, but never paid a lot of attention.. Wish I had. Oem from now on if possible.

Question.. Was there ever a foreign part that GM used on our trucks? Assuming not, what year did it start?

I will be in the market for some new tires soon (staying with the 15" for now), I know there are several American made tires, and I will support them but are any companies that are still American owned? JUST CURIOUS

I use this business for my differential and axle needs. Everything that I 've gotten from him - axles, gears and majority of bearing sets (with some Jap. bearings)are - MADE in USA.

Rear Leaf springs through General Springs KC, Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks. Not sure but CPP Spindles and Springs and DJM Flip Kit might be. I'll check the boxes and get back to y'all, I know both companies manufacture a lot of thier own stuff

sKnNyPpY - I've been eyeing a pair of springs for my '85 C3500 from General Spring. Do you have any complaints with yours?

Re: name your American made parts

I love my new springs Alex V. and General Springs KC had the best pricing and they were here FAST. I ordered on Monday they were at my shop on Wednesday (cheaper to ship to a business by about $10). There was nothing but a tracking label on them, but they are steel so it's not like they were going to get damaged or anything. I would recommend getting any shackles with bushings already pressed in too. Grade 8 bolts are a little too expensive this way, so I'd hit Ace Hardware to get those.

Re: name your American made parts

eaton detroit spring...made lowered leaf springs fof my 70...also lowered fronts which wasnt that simple cause i have a 75 crossmember and a big block...they got it right. on another note...just tried to buy a floor jack...didnt want a no-name import that have flooded the market lately, just wanted to replace my 2 ton walker [which at last count was a lincoln].seems they were bought out and re-branded hein-werner[they made the orange jacks with the t-handles and the release knob on top]but the jack is still the walker design.this is a pro quality jack ,costs over $400,and is proudly made in the usa in kansas city...by the shinn fu company of china...good grief
