Exclamation Need HELP with tilt column assembly issue

I am working on a tilt column from an 89 Blazer that was extremely loose.
Took it apart ok & tightened up the bolts, but a part fell out that I am having a problem reinstalling. I have looked over several videos as well as online tutorials on how to do this, but none mention this piece or how it goes back in.

The first 2 pics show where I am now with it. The 3rd is the part, and the 4th kinda shows about where it goes.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would REALLY appreciate the help.
I need to get the column reassembled as soon as possible.

Thanks very much.
Scott

Re: Need HELP with tilt column assembly issue

Hey Scott
Haven't posted in long time because when 2k guys all know same thing, kinda hard to add anything of value.
Seeing I just did this again a week ago it's still fresh. I had to swap out the actual broken tilt housing. As low as you can go in GM tilt.

Anyway...
The piece you have trouble with is the key switch sector slide. It mates with the steering lock pin in the upper column cup.
You need to work the key switch and get them to go together.
Photobucket is down or I'd post some pix.

This guide might help you out better than I can explain:

Most pre '95 GM columns are all the same so pay no attention that its a Fiero column.

If not, pm me and I can walk you thru.
