1970 Pale Shade of Brown

I finally started making progress on my 1970 Suburban 2wd and I'll post some pics I've taken up to its current status.

I'm the second owner and I snagged it in Winston, Oregon for $500. It's real solid and has minimal rust in the rockers. Doors shut real nice, rear wood floor is still pretty solid and it has one dent in the passenger side fender. Its a base model with no ac or trim. My end goal is to convert it all to 5-lug, bag it, and maybe a Porterbuilt cross member someday. Here's how it was when I bought it a few years ago.

Off to my dad's shop after sitting at my house for years. It needs some work to the carb but otherwise should run good.

I posted some pics after lowering the Suburban, and a gal I know recognized it. Small world.

Love these burbs, I wish I could find one in that condition for that little bit of cash...

Lowered down the back. My dad was cutting off some exhaust bracket and removing some rivets.

Re: 1970 Pale Shade of Brown

Its all back together and the stance is good. We'll see what happens when we have a few people in the back. Still need to paint the rims. Going with white for now. Once I get the trim on the bottom and paint the bottom white, I'll go with tan paint on the rims.

Re: 1970 Pale Shade of Brown

I wanted to stay with the stock steelie look, but the original rims are way to narrow. Im running Wheel Vintiques 62 Series Ford-Chevy Style O.E. Wheels in 7" and 8" width.

Re: 1970 Pale Shade of Brown

We ended up going with a 4" spring and 3" of lowering blocks in the rear. I think the bigger drop springs would be weighed down too much. We are putting air shocks on it soon just incase it drops down with family in the back seats. Eventually I'm going to run bags all around.the front has 2.5" spindles and a coil cut off. I'm not sure what the total for the front. 4" or 5" probably.

Looking good! I have not "C" notched my sub. I was told it would let the axel hit the wood floor. I don't know if this is true or not. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I like the round ones much better too. I have a new set of round stainless mirrors ready to put on once I can get the old screws out.
