does any one know where to buy axle bearings, seals for the eaton rear axles. I have a 68 c 20 & a 71 k 20 with this behemoth. Also does any one know anything about these, I think there were 2 different model #'s like HO 52 & HO 72. Any help would be great. Also any expoided views of this would be great, cause i want to rebuild the one on the 71 k20 thanks

dp a search for my name and you will find the bearing numbers and if you go to www.coloradok5.com and do a search for my name or eatonyou will come up with a lot of info. bearings are cheaper through a bearing place versus a parts store. or pm me and i will get you all i can. just dont have the time right now.

The HO52 was in 3/4 ton trucks while the HO72 was a one ton rear.
You tried NAPA on those bearings?

NAPA = good luck! I got no love from them on both of my HO52/72 axles.

Try these guys:

Randy's Ring & Pinion

They helped me get my working axle back together...

Re: eaton rear axle

I think these are great axles. I like the removable carrier, yet you can still pull the rear cover and take a look or change fluid. Got one in my stock 67 C-20 still going strong.

Re: eaton rear axle

just get a 14BFF axle from a 2000+ chevy w/ factory rear disc.....its tuned for the back end and has proper drum parking brakes unlike those aftermarket kits that just use front calipers from whatever car. you'd just have to fab the proper mounts for the trailing arms, track bar and shocks. the 2000+ 14BFF has an 11.5 ring gear and is massive compared to the 10.5 ring gear 14BFF's in 70's to 90's trucks. i may some day just swap the gm rear disc brakes onto my HO52 on my 72 burb. it will be a neat combination of modern and classic.

Re: eaton rear axle

EDITED:

I have learned so much about my Eaton these last few months.
K20's at least for my year of burb 1968 were 12" drums, and very difficult to find drums and brake parts for.

No, Napa does not carry them anymore.

I discovered that the adjuster arm on a 1974 14 bolt, is the same for the 12" drumed Eaton and closed knuck Dana 44.

I'm back in business!

Re: eaton rear axle

well then take them to a motion industries or find one on the web, call them tell them what you got & have them ship it to you. You will need the numbers on the bearings & seals or the exact measurements.

Re: eaton rear axle

Yessssss I did. Plus all the other local chain parts stores.

Plus I thought I had some mad google skills, and I still can't find a parts house that sells 12" brake drum parts. Shoes, yes. Wheel cylinders, yes. Springs seem to be interchangeable from 11" to 12", so I have all new parts except for this stupid adjuster arm.

Heck Inline Tube is putting a copy of my E-brake cable into their catalog now after being able to copy mine, since the one they were selling for a 67-72 was for an 11" brake drum.

Re: eaton rear axle

vectorit- There's a place down here in Spring Valley called Border Parts, sorry I don't have their number on me right now. They carry early eaton rear axle bearings, seals, etc. Probably hook you up with other eaton needs as well. Good luck.
