Inner rocker panel

Hi,
My first attempt at replacing body panels. I ordered outer rocker panel, cab corner, lower front pillar and the ineer rocker panel. The only piece I am having issues with is the inner rocker. I can see where it goes but my old one was so far gone that I cannot tell what if anything it was attached to. Is the "inner rocker" part of the outer cab floor? If so would it be easier to replace that piece instead?

This might belong in body work, but it is a specific question to this year truck...

the inner rocker is the outer floor part! post some pictures so you all can see how bad you floor is! your outer rocker sits on the lip of the inner rocker! if you have more rust in your floor it's a good idea that you replace 1in.-2in. past the rust so that way when you weld it back in you dont have to worry about welding to thin rusted metal! i hope that helps!!

ok the inner rockers will replace what you need! in picture #4 the top edge were it comes down to were you cut, thats where the new inner rocker will be welded! at that edge before it dips down! take a wire wheel to the top of the floor before it dips down and knock off that bondo and make sure you dont need any other floor patch or to make a patch! i dont have any pictures of my patches i did! but my floor didnt need much but a couple small patches smaller then 4-6in. squares, the driver footwell patch, and outer rockers! i still need to do the footwell patch and my rockers! but anyways i would take a wire wheel to the floor and make sure you dont need anything else! that bondo could be hiding alot or someone could have used alot of bondo for no reason!!

So I would still need to weld it behind both the front and rear pillas as well right. From an ease of installation...would it be easier to replace the whole outer floorpan? Or is there an easier way I'm not thinking of?

Depending on the condition of the rest of your floor #6 in the LMC pic should do the trick for the inner rocker and @ 6" of the floor.

Right and that is kinda the question... rest of my floor is fine. But from an install point of view, would 6 be easier than 8 to put in since all the tricky welding spots are done and I can weld the floor pan in from inside the cab...

Buy #6, and trim off what is not needed. If you buy just the inner rocker, you'll have to piece in the outer part of the floor.

From what I can see #8 will not repair all the rust. You can weld the floor from the inside.

looking at the lower pillars I already planned to replace the front... looking at it I should prob also replace the rear. Might be a silly question but with all the other tack welds etc in the pillars do I need to brace anything cutting them out? If not might make everything a ton easier.... either way I go.. I already have #8 piece... so if I can cut the bottom of the pillars and see how bad it is behind there... might make either piece easier to install...

Strongly suggest braceing before going any further.

Any tips on how to brace, cab is currently on a dolly.

Brace on a X Y Z . Width length and height. I can get some pics for ya once I get to my desk top. Brace it so the doors will still close.

Yes don't waste valuable time with number 8. we refuse to sell them cause they are worthless junk. Number 6 is a good product you will be happy with.

I bought a number 8 from Chevy Duty (classic parts now) and number 13. Ha! the angles did not match each other. Both had a "counterpart" sticker on them. But i modified the cab support to fit. That was the only major problem i had with the floor piece. Aftermarket rockers are another story, lol.

Also when replacing parts like the lower front pillar, or the cab support/inner support like in the last post would lap welding be appropriate or would you drill holes and "spot" weld?

Sorry for what may seem to be silly questions but again this is my first attempt at this. I appreciate all the tips/help and not being flamed like some forums I have been on would do to people trying new things

Try to duplicate what the factory did. The rule per Icar is to add 10% more spot welds than the factory did. Just a general rule.

I meant better in price. with the exception of the usa made panels we sell, all the taiwan panels come from Triplus like ALL the vendors here.
