Which Doors Do I Have?

I bought my 53 Chevy 3100 as a project in progress. The doors have the exterior turn down handles and came with one piece side windows and new regulators that are not installed. I just ordered door latches and striker plates for a 53 Chevy but now I am thinking that the doors are from a 49 or 50 Chevy truck. Will my new door latches and striker plates work on these doors?

Thanks.

Wade

Re: Which Doors Do I Have?

Without more info I can only narrow it down to 47-50 doors that you have. I don’t believe the 53 hardware you ordered will work with these doors.

Re: Which Doors Do I Have?

Thanks guys - close enough. Two steps forward and one step back - seems like how I do my automotive projects.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I am in Florida for another month and not near the truck. I try to buy some parts when I come south in the winter to save on the crazy shipping prices to Canada.

Re: Which Doors Do I Have?

Someone here (I think it was here) just did did the swap a while back.

Personsly I wouldn't run stock latches on one of these trucks for love nor money. My wife still packs te scars from falling out of our truck 39-1/2 years ago when the door popped open and she fell out in the gravel on the street.
