Aren't the fenders the same from all AD trucks? I think the shipping will kill you. It's a large bulky item. What's your price range? Are your rear fenders beyond repair?

shipping on a pair of fenders across country was $70 by Greyhound, not to bad

none of the big suppliers of parts will ship Greyhound. The cheapest quote I got was $125 for each fender. Most of these guys want $350 for each fender plus shipping. Thats a grand for two fenders. I would rather buy a parts truck for $1000 and fix the fenders on that

The sheetmetal of my truck is in extremly bad condition...after the paint was off you could everywhere see through there is hole by hole, enormus primed - shortly:there is so many loss by rust and dents on all parts: Fenders, Cab, running boards, Bed, and so on :-( .... so i have to buy many new complete parts or repair panels... i donīt know how many this will going to cost....i have nightmareīs when iīm thinking from

mine wasn't much better in fact probably worse since it came from oregon. i wouldn't stress about it. it was the funniest part of my build. I'm no pro but there is something about a sunny day a grinder, welder and new sheet metal...without any real training i replaced all the same panels you need and more.... just take it one panel at a time.

Look through my build thread I have replaced about every panel that you will need to replace. Like mylow53 said, with no training I have done it all too. I have more pictures if you need anything let me know and I will post them for you.

I have a pair of rear fenders off my 50 in decent shape. not perfect but easily repairable. I went with wider fiberglass ones. shipping may be a pain but let me know if you are interested.

Just a thought. On another message board a guy in Europe had an Olds he was needing parts for, hood, fenders, seat frames. He had another member collect the parts on the east coast, found someone else that was shipping a complete car to Europe and stuffed his stuff in the container for a small fee. You might check with freight forwarders to see if they work to bundle short loads into container size loads. I also once shipped an engine in the trunk of another car that was being shipped cross country, guy was glad to get some cash to offset his shipping costs.

Another '54 on hold. My brother, mom and I all have '54 in various stages of re-build. All 3 are on hold as we are all saving for "the end of the world", lol. Anyone else feel the U.S. is in for another civil war?

havenīt good news...restauration is still on hold because of the bad employment situation / financial condition....it spiral downwards day by day

At the moment iīm looking for some -sponsors...but havenīt find help until now...people donīt like to donate in such an financial situation
Yesterday i create a donate-button over PayPal, but after a few minutes i have to close it because of security problems (hackers would be able to disuse my acount)

So i have the same situation like a few weeks ago.....now at first i have to solicit orders - or searching a new job.

Sorry to hear the economy in Europe is taking a hit too. I feel your pain, as a business owner I have went from 9 to 2 staff in 18 months. But in the last two weeks I have picked up 5 new restaurant projects, 2 now 3 in June and a small 5,600 SF house to design. My 59 is suffering the cash flow blues too and I'm running out of no cost things to do on it. But I think things are starting to pick up, at least in my part of the world.

at the moment iīm looking for a new steering column, but which column brand is the "better" one? Flaming River or Ididit? Perhaps you have a few experience to tell....

PS: I Have a disc/drum-combination on my truck.
A single would be for drum/drum set ups, someone can correct me if I am wrong. I believe you would want a dual resevior setup for disc/drum applications.

Are you going to mount the master cylinder on the firewall or under the cab?

i have again get some good news:

The ordered steering column and brake-booster-kit from www.performanceonline.com is on the flight to germany ;-)
....Good things come to those who wait....
..after a very long time since the order (Juneī09).

But iīm also worried about a wrong part-nr. on the flight-transport-list....there is a brake-booster-kit listed that is not conform to my order. Hopefully do i donīt get the wrong booster...

Hello again...

..today i give a question to all of you:
Would it be possible to get some pictures of your trucks hood fitting?

Yesterday i was at the bodywork and i / they get a BIG problem:
After assemble the front of the car the hood doesnīt fit exactly - means that the hood collide with the fenders in the frontest position (sideways to the hood latch cover / behind grill). I think the hood should fall "through" the fenders with a little gap but i canīt go wider with the fenders because of grill and radiator-support fittment. So what to do now??? How does it look at your truck? Have you got the same Problems?

The next big problem on the hood is, that the sheetmetal ending in front of the windscreen / cowl vent is very flexible...so also here: Can you please send me some photos from yours cowl inside in this area? Isnīt there any reinforcement?

I hope you understood all of my stupid english - sorry for that bad arranged words.

There was a thread a while back about AD hood fitmet issues. Consensus seemed to be that the angle of the cab, front to back, affected the hood fitment. It was also suggested that the cab-hood-radiator support be fitted first and the fenders aligned with the hood. If you do a site search for FAQ there is a thread on panel alignment too. Good luck.

OrrieG hit the nail on the head. The cab "tilt" has a big roll in alignment of the front clip. I had a hard time with it. A few people have told me that our hoods are the hardest in the hot rod world to align.

Hey Robin , Tight is right and here are some pics for you. You certainly can not slam this hood down on mine anyway. I push it down to the safety latch and then look at both sides and shove it down. Mine is a 55 1st series ,same as yours only a tad newer.
Notice the bevel on the hood and fenders at the front? So it seems to me it was intended to wedge it self into place. I believe it was a intentional design for it's era.
When you say cowl area do you mean the hood?
