How common is a frame crack on 72 Blazer?

So how common is a frame crack just in front (center of front spring hanger) of the factory steering box reinforcement plate on 72 Blazer?
If it has been fixed does it devalue the Blazer at all?

Re: How common is a frame crack on 72 Blazer?

I have not heard of any such cases, but I'm certain it is possible, since frame cracking issues by the steering gear were noted by GM prior to the factory reinforcement plate being added in '72. Regarding value - the Blazer is worth less WITH the crack in my opinion. Fixing the crack is the only alternative in my mind.

That's right where mine cracked - not at the steering gearbox, but right at the hanger.
