New 81 Scottsdale, whats up with the interior?

Hi Guys,
I just bought a 1981 Scottsdale! I am really impressed with the condition, it has not been repainted or restored, the only rust I can find (even with it on the lift) is a spot the size of a dime in the bed. there is a bit of surface grunge on the roof but not structural! What is really baffling me is the interior, The dash pad is a beautiful light tan and the door panels are the same, I cannot find any reproductions the same color, the Saddle color offered is much darker than what the truck has! Any suggestions????

Those are pics I found that represent the color. I don't think its custom, it is identical to my buddy's factory dash. The SPID is still there in perfect shape, ill take pics tonight!

That is also darker it almost matches the lower part of the two tone paint exactly

When it comes to the Saddle, it comes in Light or Dark. Well I should clarify, the pad is lighter than the door panels.

I believe there is a vendor on this site and USA1 has dash pads too. They have the dark. Let me see if I can find the vendor.

I am going to call him, even the light tan one in his pics is quite a bit darker!

Try Cheyenne Pickup Parts. Call them before you order and talk to Henry about color/shade.

That almost looks like Buckskin or Parchment. Wonder if it was redone at some point? But the SPID would be of great help.

Re: New 81 Scottsdale, whats up with the interior?

one option you could do is use a coverlay dash cover..get a neutral color and die it to match like tkcr suggested. ..I used coverlay on mine because of the ungodly asking prices for a replacement dash...

Re: New 81 Scottsdale, whats up with the interior?

I am still trying to contact Cheyenne Truck parts, I think I will try to get a dash pad from them and dye it, I see where the Corvette 80-81 also has doeskin interior, the color looks right, that dye seems readily available.
The truck originally came with a floor may but I would rather have carpet, My door panels are in really good shape so I thought of just dying the original panels and dash to make sure they match, and running the light saddle carpet and lower door carpet. Replacing the seat cover with the light saddle as well. any thoughts?

I seen where Cheyenne contact you about the dash, that is good news. I like the sound of your plan, of the possibilities of going to the Saddle color. I think it will look great. Take plenty of before of after pic, so we can see your transformation.

And of course, I can do a bench seat for you.

They did, the fellow was really pleasant to deal with, I had called several times but he said they were at a trade show. The dash is in route, along with door carpet, floor carpet, seat cover, AC vents and heater control knobs. I want to try and get the interior knocked out first! I ordered the doeskin dye also, I really like that color, it seems to be really hard to find!

Re: New 81 Scottsdale, whats up with the interior?

I wonder how many of the Doeskin interior trucks were made, I have searched and searched google and only found pics of 1 truck and 1 blazer with that color!

That would be a question for Keith Seymore. But your right, I haven't seen any at all. When I saw yours, I was like that color can't be right. I have never seen a dash that light.
