New in NC

Hey all...picked up a 68 SWB Fleetside last week for a great price and am happy to be here!

Question...trying to learn more about my motor and have come to a few conclusions but would like to be sure...the # on the back of the motor is #39700010, and the stamp on the front is v0611clu.

From my research and not knowing too much, it appears this is a crate 350/290hp motor someone put in there, or is there another way to interpret those #'s?

Any input would be appreciated...looking forward to hearing and seeing what everyone's got and is doing...TONS of work to do on this one, but that's what you get when you buy a $2800 48 y/o truck, right? The labor of love has begun....

Re: New in NC

welcome! post some pics of the truck, and the sticker in the glove box (SPID) if it's still there. not sure on the engine but it's not original to the truck. the trucks didn't get a vin stamped on the block. you can look up the casting number (397...) on mortec.
