Re: Powder Coater lost my wheels. What would you do?

Ya of I needed them I would make the trip. Sell for $400 mabe to some one that knows what they are but most people dont. Including me yesterday I had a set and scraped them. I thought they whare just junk and every one that does not know what they are also sees them as such. Man a regret scrapping them now.

Re: Powder Coater lost my wheels. What would you do?

Just wanted to answer a few of the questions that were posted. I work 5 weeks on/3 weeks off out of the country essentially. He knew this when I dropped them off as he was happy he did not have to rush getting them done. He couldn't exactly call me to let me know what happened. He did instantly remember the situation when he typed my phone number into the computer and did a big gulp before speaking to me. I bet he had been dreading the conversation for a while now. I totally can believe the guys that work in the back would throw away a set of ratty looking plain steel wheels. They're all in their earlys 20's and probably have no clue when it comes to these style wheels. Les Schawb is a large company with a decent reputation. This was my second time having wheels powder coated by them albeit, a different store location. This store is located in Tacoma. I was a bit jet lagged and my priorities elsewhere when I went in so, I was very mild mannered about the whole situation. I did inform him the wheels would be very difficult to find but, he seemed confident that he had several resources available to him. I will check back in Friday and if no progress, I will contact the corporate office in Prineville. All my information for all my transactions are luckily kept under my phone number in their computer. The gentleman I've been dealing with is the main counter guy and I doubt he would risk his job or reputation by doing anything shady. It seems to be a genuine mistake.

I do not have receipts for all the wheels. I think I bought two off ebay and may have paypal statements for those. I think all in with shipping I was at close to $900-$1000 for all 7 of them which is not the real issue. Finding the them was a pain in the first place. I was hoping to find 1 more in the future to complete the two sets.

Re: Powder Coater lost my wheels. What would you do?

There has been a lot of good input already.
Give the manager for that location a chance to fix the problem.

Before you go to corporate, But firmly tell him you will go to corporate if he does not resolve the situation. His guys screwed up, But he is responsible for them including their screwups. Plus, they had a breakdown in their process of how they do things. His responsibility again.

Unfortunately you can only expect to get your money back. He is not a good one to find your replacement wheels. But go in prepared with what it cost you including estimates.

Forum Members - who has relatively recent costs for these wheels, to help him?

Go to the Top right away, Report to Corporate.
Also I would go knock on that employees door and see if he has your wheels in his garage. I bet he has a good side business going selling used wheels..

Those look a little narrow to me. The 8" (Inside bead to inside bead) are tough to find.

Re: Powder Coater lost my wheels. What would you do?

if possible use email to discuss the situation rather than phone calls or in person so at least you have a record of what he did and promised to do to rectify it so he cant pull a ''i've never seen this guy before'' when corporate or legal gets involved

This is golden advise for you and everybody else...in all sorts of situations.

Once I had a Corporate vendor burn me bad and throw me under the bus at a critical juncture in a project when he failed to deliver. I took the heat when it was his bad business that caused the fail. All I had was verbal and good-ol-boy hand shake "I got you" kind of stuff from him. The very last time I heard his voice was him leaving me an angry voice mail insisting that I start answering his calls!
