Oil

What zinc additive are you running in an older engine? Not ready for a roller setup just yet.

Re: Oil

I run AMSOIL Z-Rod in my K20. I've attached a technical bulletin with the zinc levels of AMSOIL products that flat tappet engines would benefit from.

FWIW here is a list of 40 oils and their zinc levels- your current oil may be on the list already and easy to compare to others. I don't know when the last time it was revised or if the composition of the oils listed have changed since this was put together.

If you're looking simply for the ZDDP additive, there are a few sources.

I'm sure there are others as well.

Re: Oil

I run lucas. You can buy it at Orileys off the shelf. I run 1/4 bottle per 5 qts which is about 1250 ppm.

Talking The Dreaded OIL THREAD !

Pretty much any C / CJ Diesel rated oil is what you want .

As mentioned, good quality oils (synthetics) are vastly better than the paraffin based crap your engine was designed to use so just keep it full and HOT CHANGE THE OIL & FILTER on a regular basis and the engine will outlast you unless you abuse it .
