Hewletts 66 Chevy LWB Build Thread v2.0

ok so im back to work on my 66. heres the plans. flat bed, engine rebuild, th350 tranny with shift kit, front end rebuild, power steering, custom krylon paint.

engine...
i got the 350 pulled apart. gonna go for this kit.
http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...d=1668#options
bore it .30 over.
i got a set of rebuilt heads casting #14102193. they are 87-93 tbi heads. from what i understand only good for low-mid torque. they are probably what are going on it unless i find something else.

front end...
everything needs replaced. its completely warn out. has disc brakes but the calipers need rebuilt or replaced, and needs new rotors.

flat bed...
im going to build a flat bed. its going to be simple and have a toolbox and my fuel cell somewhere on, or under it.

looks...
im gonna do some body work and use spray paint, black with a touch of red. i also have a grill from a 62 Big Truck thats going on it.

interior...
bucket seats and a custom center console. new gauge cluster(auto meter or something).

other...
eaither a newer truck steering column or a ididit column. probably gonna end up using a steering column from a 86 chevy parts truck i got. Power steering(again from the 86 parts truck).

ill get pics of my truck the way it sits now and the grill and heads tomorrow and post um up. hoping to have my truck on the road by july 22 (my b-day). that would be a great b-day present.

Re: Hewletts 66 Chevy LWB Build Thread v2.0

that things gonna have a computer too!! lol

burnt valves can be caused by a cracked exhuust manifold, vaccum leaks are also culprits.
Any thing that will let "cold" ( 80 degrees vs 210 on the motor)air hit the red hot edge of the valve will start to deteriorate it.
