1986 vent window

I need to replace my DS vent window, I looked at seals and they show for 85 and later. Does that mean I can use an earlier seal on my truck with an earlier seal kit or do I have to find a 85 or later vent wing? It looks like some has tried to replace with the wrong one already but is it not working because the seal, any input or experience with this issue would be appreciated!

Re: 1986 vent window

There was a change in the vent window style mid year of 86, I believe. Some 86's have the old style and some with the new style. There's video that tells you how you can tell what vent window you have. Let me find it and then I'll post it.

Thanks for the video, and sweet truck btw. So as long as I have the correct seal for the vent I have it shouldn't matter?

Exactly. My 86 has the old style vent, which take the 2 piece seals. I tried to find the newer style vent windows, so I could have the one piece seal. But I couldn't find any. The just look cleaner in my opinion, because of where the 2 pieces meet, there is a seam. It's right up there in that upper corner, where the vent window meets the sash.
