why is my 97 1500 slow to engauge 4hi or lo sometimes???

As i said it slow sometimes. seems like i have to bump the throtle or go into revrese. Usely only the first or second time when i'm out playing does it do this. after that it seems to be faily quick. I drove a 04 the other day and as soon as i pulled it in ot 4 lo it was locked in. Is there some linkage adjustments i can make? Or is it eletrical?
Thanks in adv Seth

My Mom's 97' K1500 Cheyenne she had did the same thing, sometimes it would lag before going into either 4 Hi or 4 Low.

The Yukon she has now is quick as **** going in either way, 4 Hi, 4 Low or anything.

check your actuator on the front axle they are electrical devices when they are cold they are slower after you engage it a couple of times it is warmed up
