6 lug spare tire suggestions

Hello all, I am curious on what a spare tire recommendation might be for my 6 lug truck. I have the underbed gas tank so I will need to carry this in the bed. I don't think they make a "donut" spare that I can find anyway. I have one of my original wheels that is 15 inch I need to see if it will clear my front brakes but was hoping for something a little lighter.
Thanks,
Dave

No spare at all. Use triple A premier membership and leave the spare at home . But if you have decent insurance you should have free road service and towing already ?

Re: 6 lug spare tire suggestions

If you are concerned about space in your bed, my '72 c10 super has a factory bracket which is mounted in the front driver's side corner of the bed so the tire stands upright. The bracket uses the bed bolts along the bottom but uses other ones to hold the bracket to the top of the bed rail. It then uses a rod which passed through the center of the bracket in order to secure the tire in the upright position. You could make a pass through rod which accepts a lock so no one steals your tire. Where I roll, you need to lock everything as classic trucks are a target in my hood. Keep a spare with you case cell phone reception is not a given as you never know where you will get a flat. Personally, I'm a flat magnet.

Re: 6 lug spare tire suggestions

Ha Grumpy that is what I had been doing. I threw one in for a bit and then took it out. I did have triple A but didn't keep it up.
I have a flat topper so a stand-up tire is out but I have seen those they do work great. I was really looking for something lighter and bigger than my 15 inch but I didnt know what it might be.
I think I am all good, I will be heading to crusin the coast in about 3 weeks or so and was going down my mental check list.
Thanks guys
Dave

Re: 6 lug spare tire suggestions

Thank you, I also moved my gas tank to under the bed. I used the filler neck setup from a 70 Blazer. I like the look and no slow filling problems. Plus I don't think a 35" tire would fit under the bed.
