Converting to Power Brakes

My 71’ was factory with disc drum manual brakes. I want to switch to power brakes. Will buying one of these kits off eBay be ok or is there a better option?
The brackets on the ones I see on eBay say the bolt patterns are squared at
3 3/8”, but the studs on the fire wall are not 3 3/8” measureing from top stud to bottom. They are I believe 2 5/8”. What do you guys recommend?

Are you measuring from centerline to centerline? If you measured the space between the holes I think you would come up with something close to what you mentioned...

I measured from center of stud to center of stud. 3 3/8” from side to side and
2 5/8” from top stud to bottom stud.
The ones I see for sale on eBay say they are 3 3/8” side to side and top to bottom

Like he said. Get a factory set up, plenty of board members have the available.
To my knowledge the mounting brackets for the boaster are not made in the after market, and neither are the support brackets

If you are interested, I have a factory booster, master and valve setup you are welcome to. It's off a 1970 c10 with four wheel drums. It was a dealer installed option. I cant speak to the fitment to a '71. I converted to power disc.

I put this one on my 68 and it bolted right in. Can't beat it for the price. It sticks out further from the firewall and had to stretch the lines. No complaints.

not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a 70 that I switched to front disc, rear drums. I am in need of a brake booster and I am unsure which to get. Any help is appreciated...

Was researching making a similar upgrade to my '71...the parts store brake boosters don't appear to come with the mounting bracket to the firewall (they apparently assume you already have one).

This one from Summit Racing has the bracket on it. Haven't verified if the bolting pattern is correct as I don't plan on buying and making the change until this winter...which in South Dakota could be next week!

I got the original brackets and my kit came with the valve. I am just missing the booster.

Thanks guys. I had planned on going to Summit and after seeing these replies for summit I think I’ll take the short 30 mile drive to the new store here in Texas and see what I can find.

That looks exactly like the one I got from ebay for $175 except I got a proportioning valve also. It fit and worked great.

I'm editing to say I see the other response here where the prop valve costs another $75....Makes my ebay deal look awesome. I will say...I did drive over to the new Summit store to get this: https://www.summitracing.com/tx/parts/clp-pv-tool Proportioning Valve Tool after I was unsuccessful at bleeding my brakes without it... My ebay kit didn't come with it. Some of the CPP kits come with it. I'm guessing summit and 'Tom' get their stuff from the same Chinese factory...

I feel your pain. Even though they have free shipping on orders 99.$ I still find myself doing the 40 minute drive and walking around in a fog, daydreaming, kinda like my wife does at an art supply store. lol.
