Was this an option????

I just bought this '69 Suburban, and while i was cleaning it out, i noticed it has a cigarette lighter plug in in the rear cargo area. Has anyone seen this, or did the PO install this. It don't appear to be a hack job if it wasn't original.

I've never seen one in the back like that, but mine has a second cig lighter socket in the dash. It was always used for a map light.

Is yours tapped into the brake harness? or did someone run a dedicated circuit?

I'm not sure, i haven't really inspected it too closely to figure it out. I never have seen one like that, but it don't look like a hack job. I am not sure what the black button is for either, i am guessing a switch to turn it off while there isn't an accessory plugged into it??

Now i have seen it in the 1971 chevy 3 door suburban that the RIVERSIDE Race way had 2 of them and one was a Back up ambulance and one was for a back up First aid and fire truck.the options that you never see.

Unless you get a suburban from a company that needs it for a business of a Job its like the Fire Department I saw one suburban in Lake taho Calif have all 4 doors on a 1967 suburban .

how about the 4X4 crew cab chevy trucks from 1968--72 Not many people know of the options cus most government car's or truck never saw the open market like today's car's go on auctions.

Now remember GM back in them days are like Burger King they make it the way you want it

its like my 1968 long horn i have every one tells me that some one change the grill or the front end I can go with that but the side molding dose not Lie it was not modified and look at the tool box door it has the siding on it as well Ya they made longhorns in 1968

so just think of any company that dealt in first aide or the hospitals well they really did not have Vans like they have to day if you can research Engine 51 tv show they used the 1968 suburban
