Cool Project: 69' Stepper

I always wanted a 69' because my grandfather had one... lots of great memories involving that truck. Now with my son's help, he's three, we're going to put together a cruiser. There is a great cruising scene out here in the Denver area!
This wont be much of a build thread but more of a place to keep track of progress.
This is what Collin calls Stepper.

This is what we started with:

Re: Project: 69' Stepper

First thing to do is get the stance a little lower. Static for now but I would like to bag it eventually.

Thanks Bryan

Re: Project: 69' Stepper

Thanks guys.
As for the spare... I'm still not 100% on it. Re-did the mount and threw a tire on it to see if it works for me or not, time will tell.

Re: Project: 69' Stepper

The stance and wheel/tire combo is looking good, I'm thinking about the same type setup on my 68-step.

Can you give the details on the rims and tires - size and vendor?
Also looking for a good source for the bullet style center caps and lug nuts - seems you had to buy quite a few lol

Yep... El Cheapo's but they ride great and last forever. 235/75/15 but I think 215's may actually look a little better and are closer to the OEM stock size.

Kevin
PB rear set up with 4" springs for a total of 7" of rear drop and 2.5" front spindles with 2" springs. I would like to drop the front another 1/2-7/8" on the passenger side to level it out and get rid of the lean but I have not figured out how to go about it yet.

Re: Project: 69' Stepper

amazing thing this internet!!
yes we are pretty lucky-have a good view out over lake rotorua and are only an hour from the east coast beaches.

wish my truck had the proper 69 grille like yours-the po had a crash in it and replaced the grille and right front guard with 71(i think).
the guy i bought it off was in his 70's,had owned it since new, and was absolutely astounded that his truck was going to a place he had never heard of.he was somewhere in the middle of texas and had never been out of state!
