Heater core/fan shroud repair

Is there a way to repair the housing? I have a small crack that could become a problem later. It is located on the underside, so cosmetics are not such an issue. Thanks for any help.

Re: Heater core/fan shroud repair

Can someone please tell me what it is made of? Appears to be similar to a fiberglass compound.

Re: Heater core/fan shroud repair

Will post pics of the repair tonight. It's just old school glass apparently. I used JB quick on it and when sanded, the repair is nearly invisible. The 2 part jb quick uses a light grey hardener and a black resin. The others won't sand out as close of a match in color.

Re: Heater core/fan shroud repair

did you drill a hole in the end of the crack to stop it from coming back?

Re: Heater core/fan shroud repair

It was broken (chipped) around the lower core outlet. I had a donor, so I made a template a bit larger than the damaged area, cut it out and did the same with the donor. A little filing to get the fit and I must say, pretty much invisible. I wasn't all that gentle with the file, so I'm sure it will hold.
