Post Finally got my first truck

After a few years of searching, today I brought home my first truck. It's a white 68 GMC short/fleet. It has a 350/350th combo, converted to five lug all around, leaf spring rear, front power disc brakes, power steering, most (if not all) of the a/c parts I need, factory air cab, 67-8 chevy grille with new mouldings, brand new chrome bumpers front and rear.
Now for the bad stuff. Later model side molding that looks really bad, poorly tinted windows, both dash and doors cut for sound system, cracked windshield, no dash pad, needs fuel sending unit, and side mirrors. But I think it's a pretty solid truck. No noticeable rust really. A little bondo in a couple of spots, and a cheap paint job with peeling clear coat. But it made the 110 mile trip home today, and averaged 13mpg. Better than I'd figured it would be.
Now that I have a truck, I'm sure I'll be asking a variety of questions. Just thought I'd let you guys know. And I should have pictures to post within a week.

you gotta admit the 67-68 grille and slope nose hood is unique and no other manufacturer copied THAT one, at least not like later ones, imo!

sweet someone did the hard part the 5 lug conversion for you,and you wont be posting,"should i cut the dash and doors?"youre already there, now all you need is to rip off the window tint and find a gmc grille and youll be stylin'
but its a hard choice for me i have 2 GMC's a 67 and 69 one is bound to get a Chevy tailgate and grille.

Well, I prefer the chevy grilles, so I'm happy If I had the gmc grille, it'd be for sale right now. Still need to adjust the steering (a little loose), check the brakes (pull to the left), and adjust the idle, then it'll be good to go.

Congrats! I say stick with the '68 chevy grill. Mine's a GMC and I like it, but nothing beats a '67 - '68.

Have fun with your truck.

Yep, my neighbors just love the fact that I have the noisiest vehicle in the neighborhood It may be hard on the ears, but at least it's easy on the eyes! Looks much better sitting in the driveway than my 88 F*rd Escort did Now if only it was licensed, so it could move from my drive way...should have that taken care of in a couple days. Will hopefully get pictures friday. Thanks for all the congrats guys. It feels great to finally have a truck of my own. The entire drive back I had a smile on my face. I woke up this morning and looked out my window to make sure she was still there! My afternoon was spent with a few friends scraping off the ugly purple window tint. It looks much better already! Thanks again,

Yeah, purple tint sucks. The wife has that crap on her blazer. She won't let me rip it off onless I take it straight to a tint shop. Screw it, she's the one that looks like a fool, I never drive the friken thing.

I have a 72 Cheyenne 10 with a V8 350 and a TH-350 auto-tranny.
White/Ochre/White
Runs well... working on body.
Plan to get painted weekend before memorial day weekend.
Planned to be done March 7 when I turned 16. Didn't happen. Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk.
