5 or 6 depending on which pan you're using

Re: How much trans fluid for a 4l60e?

I did see two different pan when looking at Rock Auto. They list deep or shallow. I'll need to figure out which one I have.

Thanks for the reply!

Re: How much trans fluid for a 4l60e?

I know its been a while since starting this post. It took 4.5 qts to refill with the shallow pan.

I didn't expect to move the cross-member, but it was not to bad to do.

.
I think that would be fine for the initial fill....but....once at full operating temperature check the dip stick and fill to the proper level there.

This will ensure that once the fluid is pumped through your lines and cooler(s), there's still enough to keep things lubricated.

Your 2000 Tahoe have the deep pan ?
The filters are different from a deep pan and the smaller pan too.

I would think with draining the TC and replacing the filter in the used 4L60E it would of taken more than 6 qts. Plus you flushed out the cooler lines right ?
