Just picked up an 89 3/4 ton 4x4 Burb!

Good Evening! I just scored a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 4x4! TBI 350 with Turbo 400 Trans. 160k miles. I believe the drivetrain is all stock. Brand new Toyo MT tires. Going to be my daily driver/travel trailer hauler.

She needs a new headliner, some front end rebuilding as she steers pretty sloppy and a few gauges fixed. Otherwise a very solid start to a fun driver!

Thank you! It's very clean. Couldn't believe how straight the body is.

Is that a metallic blue? Can you look at the SPID label in the glovebox and post the color code

Reminds me of. . . me!

1989 GMC Burb v2500 4x4, 6.2 diesel. 160k.

It is an awesome vehicle and great fun. I also need a headliner. I replaced the front ball joints too.

Front Range - Yes, Light Blue Metallic. There is a small bottle of touch up paint in the glove box that appears to match. It says Code 27 and underneath is WA9264.

Electricduane - Love the pictures! Can't wait to roll around with my two boys in it. They are 3 and 2 years old.

Electricduane - forgot to ask, is that a 4inch lift on yours?

Re: Just picked up an 89 3/4 ton 4x4 Burb!

Yes it has a 4" block lift, tires are 305s I think.

My project list is long, but near the end of it is replacing the rear blocks with a Shackle flip kit. I'm going to get the trunk area sprayed with Linex, replace the headliner, probably put the aluminum Dash from DIY4X in it, and it definitely needs one of those aimable Cop spotlights. . . etc etc etc.

The Suburban came with a vegetable oil kit, which really was not as cool as I thought it sounded. It involved having a vegetable oil tank that sat in the trunk area and an electrical switch / valves under the hood that would switch between the normal diesel tank and the vegetable oil tank. It turns out that obtaining vegetable oil and filtering it down to so many microns is a pretty good headache. Also, the previous owner managed to slosh grease all over the trunk area. I sold the grease kit, with diesel a little over 2 bucks a gallon, what's the point?I had to pull the carpet out and throw it away. The diesel engine is slow and steady, but the mileage is amazing. I haven't done the math, but I know it's definitely 20 miles to the gallon.

The kids love "Pearl," as we named it. My wife prefers to call it "White Trash." My seven-year-old helped me put the steps on the side of it. She likes it, even though she often tells me that it needs a makeover and that she thinks that we should paint rainbows and Pegasuses all over it.

Front Range - I did a little more research. The paint code is 27U which is Light French Blue Metallic.
