1972 c10 NSS

OK I am adding a 21 circuit wiring harness to my 72 using some factory connectors. Automatic trans. i see the 2 large factory purple wires from the NSS--- my question does the start purple wire from the ign switch go to one side of the NSS then continue to the starter? sounds right...

Re: 1972 c10 NSS

Yes, one purple wire runs from the "SOL" terminal on the ignition switch to one side of the NSS. And another purple wire runs from the other side of the NSS to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid.

The NSS contacts should be closed when the shifter is in Park or Neutral, allowing current to flow from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. And the NSS contacts should be open in all other shifter positions, preventing the engine from cranking with the trans in gear.
