Anyone have a window A/C Unit mounted in the back glass of their 4X4?
Guess you would have to have a Big Window back Glass...

Don't laugh.......It was a dealer option

^ I actually think that's painted trim looks good.
I'd like to see it thinner, but it still works.

Here is another 60-63 GMC 4x4 Suburban. Anyone know how to identify other than the front windshield what year GMC's are?

Re: 60-66 Chevy And GMC 4X4's Gone Wild

Hi guy's--i am new to this site, and all the great info!

I just bought a 1961 chevy K10 and it's ruff. It was a search and rescue truck in northern calif. It has home made bumpers, and i mean HOME made. It has a winch off some 6X6 or something that runs off a pto. has a 62 up hood on it? as many dents on the truck they probably wrecked the hood? the hood was the right color (neptune green) though. the truck was a late production as the vin is--11925 maybe they ran out of 61 hoods. truck was painted red with a white top as a fire truck, and then rattle caned as you see it now. let the fun begin!
this will be my last build--as i am 62 (can't crawl around) over and under as i use to.

Welcome to the board from Arizona. Hope the bumpers are bolted to the frame and not welded like most that I have seen that have those big ugly home made bumpers. Most 4x4's were used hard and abused, as long as you have a solid original 4x4 frame you can replace the sheet metal from a donor truck in better shape which will save you a lot of time and money.

Re: 60-66 Chevy And GMC 4X4's Gone Wild

thanks for the reply---yes the ft bumper is welded on, but can be cut off. just welded on the front tips. back is just bolted on. frame is just surface rust, all good. body has a little rust in the cab and ft fenders are toast. I worked with a friend for 15yrs (evenings and weekends) building street rods and some stock restores. he still has a media/and sand blasting business so thats a real help. this will be a driver, not a show rig. I've never did a frame off for myself. had a 56 nomad for 23 yrs (now in new jersy) sold to a friend. saw some prod # for a 65 or 66. anybody know any # on the 61 k10? here is a pic of my Nomad.

Shoot, 61K10....
That Nomad shows off yer skills....an' your taste, as well.
That K-10 is a fine project.
I'm partial to the wheelers.

Somewhere on here is a build thread on my truck with some pictures.
This site is the key to all upgrades, repairs, troubleshooting and reconditioning.....not to mention the wonderful world of custom work.
It's the home of the best resto guys around and some of their finest projects.

Glad to welcome another one.
