1967 Tcase

I've heard several conflicting reports as to what transfer case the 1967-72 trucks used, and I'm looking at getting a 67 4x4so I'd like to know what I'm working with before I buy. I've heard the got NP205's and i've heard they got a rockwell unit, anyone know for sure?

Thanks-

Eric

Re: 1967 Tcase

As far as I know the 67s have a rockwell T221.
The Rockwell is a strong gear driven tcase. It howls a little bit due to the cut of the gears, but it is strong. Mine has been running hard since 67 and the collar in the trannt to tcase adapter finally gave out.

Re: 1967 Tcase

Transfer cases were Rockwell T-211s untill early 1969 then the NP205 was used. Also the earlier trucks had closed knuckle, drum brake front ends. If you want disc brakes and big tires you might be better off with a later truck.

Re: 1967 Tcase

Not really sure, but I think the '84 down D44 open k/disc axle and the '76 up D60 are pretty much bolt in. Need to do a forum search and read through them for specific axle swap info..
