Appliance Slotted mags, lug nuts needed, 8 lug

I have a set of 5 Appliance slotted mag wheels, 9.75x16.5. They use a shank lug nut I have never seen before. They are not the usual type of shank lug nuts. Any idea who might make these?

Summit has them that size. You can search by that shank size. Use the narrow you results option.
Are they 1/2 or 9/16 thread?

I asked because our Frankenstein 68 is 1/2 in the back and 9/16 up front.

Hey Joe. I have a set of those lug nuts for an old set of Weld Wheels. I had to get a thicker washer so they did not bottom out. I believe they came from "JET"???

Re: Appliance Slotted mags, lug nuts needed, 8 lug

It's been about 10 years, but I had a set of turbines I bought cheap and new because they had both the newer chamfered seat lugs and one that was bored for shank type lug nuts. After a mishap with a free tire rotation at Sears and another after a flat repair where the techs didn't get the differences, I mic'd the shank nut, got a drill bit that exact size, and bored all the wheels to take the shank type lugs...problem solved!

Is that a possibility? I could go get the size off the bit or some new shank type 9/16" nuts I have. Hopefully those you have aren't bigger diameter. I'm thinking the outer bore is too big, though.

Re: Appliance Slotted mags, lug nuts needed, 8 lug

I have the same wheels in a 5 on 5. I've run into the same problem, these take a totally bastard lug nut. The problem is I can get a lug nut that will fit in the hole but there's no way you can get a socket on it because the nut sizes too big. Mine use a half inch stud and are going to need a 1/2 inch nut on the other side. A typical 13/16 nut for that half inch stud is going to be too big to fit a socket, even a thin chrome one, into the recess. Post a picture of the Lugnuts you get in the end, I'm curious.

Thanks, Steve weim55 Colorado
