Pawpaw's 72 Cheyenne Super

I just inherited my Granfathers 72 Cheyenne Super that he bought new in Nov 71. It's all original except wheels, rear bumper and exhaust. It has 88k original miles runs and drives but needs a new waterpump and a/c not cooling. Still have original wheels and hubcaps. The only major repair i know of was that it stripped the gears off the original timing chain in 1992 (old nylon teeth gear) and I installed a new timing set for him. I plan on keeping it original but the camper top has to go. The interior is great except for 1 spot on seat driver side stiching came apart (had plastic seat cover on it since he bought it) and he drilled some holes in dash for CB stuff ( He was a truck diver for 37 years) oh and has a/m fm 8 track radio still have the original radio dont know if it will still work yet. When I replace the water pump might put in electronic distibutor and will take more pics.

Did he dive to recover trucks, or did he dive trucks? LOL

Sorry I could not resist. Your lucky to have such a beautiful truck with family history.

That is one slick truck man, congrats! What is that hanging off the rear pass side marker? Spare key chain or secret compartment?

Re: Pawpaw's 72 Cheyenne Super

Sorry for the lack of updates been busy with work and the heat has just drained me. I have got the waterpump installed and the electronic distibutor in and now working on getting exhaust leaks fixed.... As for the paint i just found out that it has been painted before back in early 80's original color with Imron. never remembered that but it was done when i was in the hospital on and off for almost a year. Will have more pics soon.

Re: Pawpaw's 72 Cheyenne Super

Ok guys sorry havn't updated in awhile been sick and layed up in bed for awhile. Since I dont know any of you personally I'll just let ya'll in on my situation. I have crohn's disease and have already had 7 intestinal surgeries, have several abdominal hurnia's, lots of internal scar tissue part of which has some of my intestines attatched to my abdominal wall and gall stones, that i have to deal with on a daily basis because I've had so much trama to my stomach from surgery the docs wont do any more surgery till i'm life threatening. Needless to say there is not alot I'm able to do, but thanks to my loving wife i am able to get stuff done slowly by telling her what to do and her working on it. I need to take some pics of my little 5'2" wife in the engine bay working on stuff cause she so short she cant reach some stuff even standing on a milk crate lol unlike me being 6'5". But she has learned alot over the years just doesnt have the long experiance yet to know some of the tricks, but she don't mind getting greasy. But anyway still working on the exhaust leaks got the driver side fixed working on the passenger side its being a p.i.t.a Misty broke one bolt off but it happens sometimes. Got some pics of the inside to post and some cool stuff i found in the glove box took pics of.

Re: Pawpaw's 72 Cheyenne Super

Ok here is the interior pics made a slight mistake on first post it has 97k miles not 87k. Found the center seatbelt behind seat still wrapped in plastic. Oh and took the plastic seat cover off and the ones on the sun visors.

Now for the glove box. Pristine owners manual and emission control system and dealer inspection sheet still in a plastic bag. Took a pic of the spid but was too blurry to see so will get another later.
