Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

Anybody here have any input on the Dakota Digital VHX clusters? My choices have narrowed down to blue or white backlighting, just not sure of bezel color yet...silver or black. Pics would be nice! Yes, I’ve been to the site and everywhere else including u tube. Is there ever any decent sales on these things? Thanks.

Re: Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

I don't have an opinion on the colors but I would try Matt's Classic Bowties for a good price. I haven't bought Dakota Digital from them, but I got great prices on several other items. They are a vendor on here, here's a link to more info

Re: Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

I bought the Dakota Digital HDX for my ‘55.2 with the black background. I understand I can change the lighting colors but I haven’t messed around with that yet

I have the older style Dakota Digital gauges and I would advise you to go with the new HDX series. They look nicer than the older ones, at least that's my opinion.

The HDX series is a little outta my price range, so I’ll have to stay with the almost affordable VHX cluster. I like that old digital one too, but I want to see swinging needles.

True...
But, then again why not splurge on the one thing that you'll probably spend the most time looking at?

At least that what I keep telling myself...

Re: Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

Yeah, they’re pricey as hell. At first i wasn’t going to allow myself to spend the money. In the end i swallowed hard and did it.

Gotta draw the line somewheres, the HDX series is awesome but I could almost buy 2 VHX units for that price.

I’ve said that a hundred times!

Advice: Never look back, especially after buying any electronics!

I agree, the HDX is a nice looking gauge cluster. The price is also reasonable compared to buying individual gauges, the necessary sending units and a bezel. Total cost is about the same as the DD HDX, or possibly more if you use higher end gauges.

Re: Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

I got mine couple months ago from ebay seller. Had Make Offer button on it so I did. Knocked off $55. Got the Carbon fiber with blue lighting. Looks great and works great.
Sorry, don't have better pictures.

Very nice, the blue backlighting probably looks pretty good with the blue dash. Does Dakota Digital still honour warranty on eBay items if needed? $55 off is better than nothing off, but I guess it depends where it started originally.

ONLY a hundred times?! Ha ha.

People I know (& even people I’ve never met before in my life - flatly rude!) ALWAYS ask me how much I have into my truck? I have a general idea but the truth is, if I count the purchase price and all the things I did to it in the years before I tore it down to the frame for a full redo I think I’d be shocked at the real number. I don’t WANT to know! Eyes forward, eyes forward!

I hear ya, some actually say it’s foolish to spend big money on hobby cars; I just think it’s a part of living a life your happy with. I don’t travel the world or gamble, so I have no problem spending what I can afford on this stuff....the key words...what I can afford. Or we could do option #2..which is nothing, and that’s no fun!

Re: Dakota Digital choices for Trifive truck?

What’s foolish is listening to someone telling you how to spend your own money!

I try not to be “that guy” that gets all bent out of shape by inappropriate or even rude questions. But sometimes I just kinda ignore the question hoping that the non response tells them their question was prying. If it’s on a day when not my best self, well I
might just say, “nosy much?”
