What's a '58 worth with a Cameo & Step bed?

I found a '58 stepside that is in good shape. It has a straight 6 with 3 spd in it with new wood floor in bed. Just needs paint and Int. How much are they worth? Also the guy said that he has a Cameo bed for the truck. I know it is worth what someone will pay but just need a ball park figure for a nice project truck.
Thanks, Dennis

Couple of questions:

Is the bed complete?
Is all the rear bumper, lights and trim chrome there?

If so, the bed itself is worth a couple of grand.

On the truck, the 58/59's seem less desirable than the 55-57. So I'd say about $1500-$2500.

Also, I don't believe the 58/59 ever came with a Cameo bed. They did have a fleetside. I've usually seen them on Apache models.

Check the bed out. If it's smooth sided and fiberglass then it's a Cameo. It's basically a stepside with fiberglass outer skins.

Good Luck and post pics.

1958 was the last year for the Cameo. They did 3 beds that year, the Cameo, the new Fleetside, and Stepside.

Cameo Production in 1958

The Chevrolet Cameo was built for at least 6 months in the '58 model year. Production was 1,405 if I am remembering the number correctly.

1958 was also the first year that the full metal fleetside beds were introduced.

The Cameo bed was very expensive to produce because of the nature of fiberglass construction methods used in the early '50's.

Chevrolet had to remain competitive as the other major truck builders like Ford, Dodge, International, and Studebaker were producing a full metal pickup bed with out the fenders jutting out from the side.

It was low priced smooth sides of the other lines that ended the Cameo as we knew it.

My two cents worth! rico_bob
